When I was younger, I spent years working in a coffee shop. Coffee might have been in the name, but the interest people took in a carefully selected herbal tea stayed with me.

I saw how much people cared about finding a good tea. There was a curiosity about the ingredients, the quality, and what made one blend different from another. It made me pay closer attention, too.

What I liked most was how personal it was. Some people knew exactly what they wanted. Others were curious and happy to try something new. Tea gave us something to talk about, and I liked being part of that small moment in their day.

Years later, the two of us started talking about a tea company of our own. Nothing enormous. Just a small business we could build as a family, choosing teas we were excited to share and giving them the attention they deserved.

Today, we’re a husband-and-wife team in Pittsburgh, building Tea for Connoisseurs together. We keep our collections small and choose blends we’re excited to share. There’s something special about knowing a tea we’ve selected might find a place in your kitchen, beside your favorite mug.
